Ben Andrews took a well deserved gold medal at the British Ranking Competition in Manchester last weekend.
This national competition was hosted by Manchester Fencing Centre, a dedicated fencing salle located in an old converted mill.
Over sixty of the countries top cadet epeeists were not just fighting for medals but also for national ranking points as the first selection for the GB Cadet Team 2017-2018 takes place after this event.
Following 6 poule fights Ben had four direct elimination fights before the semi finals where he was drawn against Josh Wilcox, his GB Teammate from the European and World Championships earlier this year. A strong and well fought match resulted in Ben going on to compete in the final which he won 15-14.
On piste side was Ben’s new Coach Italian epeeist Pasquale Capuano, former coach at The London Fencing Club, who now joins Maestro Pete Barrett in Plymouth to extend the coaching team behind Ben.
